It’s been a while since I made an AMV. Finally managed to finish this. It’s another AMV of two of my favorite things, Accel World and Eurobeat. ^_^ This time, I used the track “I Can’t Stop Lovin’ You” by dream fighters. The AMV started as an AMV reflecting Haruyuki and Kuroyukihime as lovers.
After making my first Accel World alternate OP, I decided to make this into an alternate OP too. Why? Because I’m lazy. 😀 Making it into an OP means I can limit the length of the AMV. Also, it makes it easier in selecting scenes due to the shorter duration. On almost all my AMVs, I also like to introduce the casts of the anime, so making it into an OP kinda makes it natural.
In this AMV, I also used some fan arts done by these awesome artists I found on pixiv. I used a few of the works from 緋. Looks like he’s an Accel World fan too. Also, he seems to be the only few artists left that still do Accel World fan arts on pixiv after the show ended. I also used one art from なかじまゆか. Looks like he/she is a doujin artist too. Of course, fair warning when going to pixiv site, plenty of NSFW materials.
Now if only Sunrise would do a second season of Accel World. I’m in serious withdrawal here.
My first experiment with aegisub, a software for subtitling. I’m a complete n00b here, so I have no idea how to do those fancy animated subtitle. All I could do was experimenting with the karaoke feature, since it is built-in to the program.

Once I competed the subtitle using aegisub, there was the challenge on how to create a hard-sub on the video. Aegisub standard output is .ass file. It allows you to export it to .srt, but you lose all the formatting, fonts, karaoke, and color, so that is useless. I thought of using handbrake, but handbrake only supports .srt for its subtitle input. After digging around further, finally I stumbled upon a program called avidemux. Actually, I was somewhat familiar with this program in the past for transcoding videos. Lo and behold, it has a filter to apply a .ass subtitle file on a video. Alas, it is Windows only, but it works. 🙂
Been watching To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, and I fell in love with the first ending song, Dear My Friend －まだ見ぬ未来へ－ by Elisa. The song is sublime, and the lyrics is great too. Well, seems like a perfect fit for Accel World. So I made an alternate OP for Accel World using the song. ^_^
I was searching for some anime to fill my watch list while waiting for season 2 of Accel World, and I happened to see this anime on Hulu. Cuticle Detective Inaba. It’s hilarious! 😀 It’s pure silliness. We have Inaba, a cross between human and wolf. He used to work as a detective dog for the police, but now he’s an independent detective searching for his long lost brother. He is a hair fetish, and he can find out details of criminals just by chewing on their hairs. Together, he has two assistants. One is a cross dresser that has a disturbed affection towards him, and second is a normal cat-lover student. His old detective partner frequently asked him to solve various police cases. The series started with a mafia goat making counterfeit money. Yeah, don’t think too much about the details, just enjoy the ride.
This anime is so hilarious that I immediately decided to make an AMV of it, using a fun eurobeat track, Hanky Panky by Bubbles. It’s a short AMV as I just did this overnight, but enjoy! ^_^
Time for another Eurobeat AMV, classic Eurobeat! So old school that I made the AMV with 4:3 aspect ratio. 😀 Despite the number 02, this is actually the first SAO AMV that I uploaded to the net. I used the classic Eurobeat track called Love by Lisa Johnson. I tried to portray the love couples from Sword Art Online (Kirito x Asuna) and Accel World (Haruyuki x Kuroyukihime) as love from the past and the future. Hope people enjoy it. ^_^

Well, from that person’s video title, he/she mentioned Aegisub. Lo and behold, it’s a program specifically made for creating subtitles. It’s available for PC and Mac. I’ll be playing around with this program. Making subtitles manually on iMovie/Final Cut is really time consuming. We’ll see if I learn it good enough to create those fancy subtitles. 😀
Welcome to 2013! And to celebrate, a new Accel World AMV! It’s been a while since I’m fairly busy and depressed in real life, but I managed to do another Accel World AMV. I used the ED song of Code: Breaker, Shiroi Karasu, sung by Kenichi Suzumura. He is the seiyuu of Toki in Code: Breaker. Interestingly enough, he’s also the seiyuu of Ash Roller in Accel World!

Well, it’s the end of 2012, might as well wrap up my supposedly year’s end “reflection.” Yes, I was going to post more reflections, but ended up being too lazy until it’s, well, just mere hours from new year. 😛
As I have mentioned so many times, Accel World pretty much filled 2012 for me. Not only it brought back my interest into anime, it also made me do AMVs. I started with iMovie as it’s pre-installed on my Mac, and it’s very easy to use. Really, iMovie IMO is THE killer app on the Mac. However, as I progressed, I noticed many of the limitations, mainly the limit on how short a clip can be inserted into the project, the restrictions in titles and fonts, etc. I also started to learn how to sync clips to the music, and to actually think about the lyrics and the meaning in correlation to the clips that I used. As time progresses, I also learn more special effects, like transparency, split screen, etc. It can be seen on the Accel World AMV I made below, using Hikaru no Go’s OP, Get Over by dream. This is also the time I transitioned from iMovie to Final Cut Pro X, as the titles I used were still the simplistic iMovie titles. Kudos to Apple in making Final Cut Pro X more affordable so lay people can actually buy and use this pro software.
I also started mixing my favorite music genre, Eurobeat, in my AMV. The faster tempo and the higher energy of the genre really make Eurobeat a great music for AMV, although the lyrics are usually nonsensical love related theme, which makes it harder to find a good match for an AMV.
The last AMV I made in conjunction to the ending of the Accel World anime is probably my best attempt in making a quick AMV, focusing mostly on synced scenes with the Eurobeat track rather than special effects. Amazingly, it garnered 5000+ views with 20+ likes! Thank you! ^_^
Alas, after Accel World ended, my spirit in making AMVs also went downhill (plus real life stress keep piling up). I hope I can continue in making AMVs.
Well, in time before the new year (at the time of typing). Pretty much 2012 is the year of Accel World for me. Waiting for the second game and the second OVA. I really really wish for the second season!
Still waiting for Accel World Season 2… so I’m just going to do a reflection of 2012.
First of all, thank goodness the world didn’t end. If it did, the chance of seeing Accel World Season 2 dropped to zero. So yeah. 😀
My 2012 was illustrated heavily with, what else, Accel World! Looking at my past posts, I had quite a gap between Steve Job’s death and the iPad 3, I meant the “was new iPad” announcement. But then Accel World came into my world, and that’s what I was blogging most of the time.
Experiencing such an awesome anime also made me want to start making AMVs of, well, Accel World (duh, what else). The first one I did was simply using clips from the first arc, cut and spliced using iMovie with the first opening theme song, Chase the World by May’n. I checked Youtube’s stats today, and I was surprised it garnered 11000 views. LOL. Sure, it’s not much, but still I was quite amazed that my sloppily done first time AMV garnered that much interests (80 likes!). I didn’t even use RAW clips so the AMV was filled with subtitles. Well, I’m happy, and thank you for those that viewed and liked it. I will try to make another AMV if I have time.
A way to do a reflection is to simply read my own tweets on twitter. Good thing Twitter now allows you to request an archive about all your tweets. Early on in 2012, I was enjoying:

Until Accel World came, and all I was tweeting about were about Accel World. I even signed up for Hulu Plus just so I can watch Accel World before waiting for the fansubbers.
So yeah, 2012 didn’t start until Accel World. I just can’t stop liking this anime. I’m truly addicted. Can’t wait for the second game, can’t wait the second OVA, and cant wait for another season! SAO is great, but I need moar of Accel World!
