Accel World Alternate OP (AMV #26) #accel_world

Yay, another AMV! ^_^

It’s been a while since I made an AMV. Finally managed to finish this. It’s another AMV of two of my favorite things, Accel World and Eurobeat. ^_^ This time, I used the track “I Can’t Stop Lovin’ You” by dream fighters. The AMV started as an AMV reflecting Haruyuki and Kuroyukihime as lovers.

After making my first Accel World alternate OP, I decided to make this into an alternate OP too. Why? Because I’m lazy. 😀 Making it into an OP means I can limit the length of the AMV. Also, it makes it easier in selecting scenes due to the shorter duration. On almost all my AMVs, I also like to introduce the casts of the anime, so making it into an OP kinda makes it natural.

In this AMV, I also used some fan arts done by these awesome artists I found on pixiv. I used a few of the works from 緋. Looks like he’s an Accel World fan too. Also, he seems to be the only few artists left that still do Accel World fan arts on pixiv after the show ended. I also used one art from なかじまゆか. Looks like he/she is a doujin artist too. Of course, fair warning when going to pixiv site, plenty of NSFW materials.

Now if only Sunrise would do a second season of Accel World. I’m in serious withdrawal here.

 

Pre-anime Accel World #accel_world

Many (including me) found out about Accel World thanks to the anime. We are now familiar with the characters.

Haru’s height is greatly exaggerated to be very short and his demeanor is more comical, while Kuroyukihime is portrayed as a tall and slender “princess,” and we see many many fan arts reflecting characters based on the anime.

However, Accel World has existed as a light novel way before the anime, started way in 2009. It is very interesting seeing the fan arts before the anime. Here’s an awesome one, featuring the Nega-Nebulous members from pixiv.

We see the characters have a different style to them, especially the duel avatars. They are less “mecha” and feels a bit more organic compared to the anime version. Kuroyukihime looks a bit more like a normal girl, and black-haired Haru looks like a bad-ass! Haru is short, but not as short as the anime portrayed. ^_^

Yeah, I’m bored. I am waiting excruciatingly for the second season of Accel World, or at least the second game and the second OVA. My addiction is barely met with browsing fan arts on pixiv. >_<

 

Haruyuki Grows Up! #accel_world

Inconsistencies in character drawings/animations happen all the time in anime, although newer animes seem to have less of those thanks to CGI compared to the classic anime back in the 80s. When a character has extreme characteristics, slight inconsistencies become more apparent, especially if you are a fan of the show and watch each episodes multiple times…
In any case, Haruyuki, the main protagonist of the anime Accel World, is portrayed as a short chubby boy. When I say short, he is really short. A great example is in this screenshot where you can see that he’s shorter than even the counter.

In episode 22, there’s a scene where Haru is talking with Taku on a bench. Most probably won’t notice, but I felt like Haru looking like a normal person, instead of his usual exaggerated characteristics. It felt, off, in a way. I decided to take screenshots and yay, Haru grows up! 😀 Anyway, let’s take a look at the first shot.

This is what you expect. You can see Haru’s height is just by Taku’s neck, and his shoulders in within the second board of the wooden seat-bench.
Then observe the next shot.

Whoa, talk about growth spurt. 😀 His height is almost at Taku’s eye-level now. And you can see the wooden seat as a mark. Haru’s shoulders are now within the first top board.
And finally:

Wow, it’s like somebody else completely. Haru looks like a normal person with a normal body proportion. His shoulders now are above the top of the first board of the seat.

Well, I guess those pizzas he’s been eating are good for something. Calcium intake. 😀

Accel World has been usually consistent in its animation, with inconsistencies mainly due to Engrish in the Brain Burst UI. Seeing Haru grows up so quickly is funny though. 😀

 

Kamen Rider Accel World

Well, this is bound to happen. Found it on pixiv. Kamen Rider Accel is the second rider in Kamen Rider W. It’s bound to happen somebody will cross that with Accel World. And voila, Terui as Haru, Akiko as Kuroyukihime, Shotaro as Taku, Phillip as Chiyuri. Kinda fit actually (Akiko loves Terui, Terui used to antagonize Shotaro, and Phillip dresses like a girl). LOL
